ACA needs your help!  Over the course of the past several years, ACA has been examining the practices of chiropractic networks. Recently, concerns about these networks has increased dramatically to the point of additional investigative efforts being put forth by ACA.

In order to effectively capture the voice of DCs regarding these issues, a questionnaire has been developed to give both members and non-members the opportunity to share their experiences about chiropractic networks. Responding to this questionnaire will help ACA understand the effects these networks have on profession, and will also help the association better position itself for future efforts.

At the 95th Annual Meeting of the American Public Health Association (APHA), Douglas Cater, special assistant to the president of the United States, presented a paper titled “Comprehensive Health Planning.”

Active practicing chiropractic physicians were, in some parts of the country, appointed to Comprehensive Health Planning Councils and their principal concern was that chiropractic physicians must, at all costs, be categorized as “primary care providers,” because under comprehensive health care planning, all patients were to access health care through the primary care physician who would refer, when necessary, to a “secondary provider” (also known as a specialist), and when more urgent care was necessary, the patient would be referred to a “tertiary provider,” a specialist who worked in the hospital setting.

Learn more about the "comprehensive health planning councils in this article.
