The TBCE Enforcement Committe Chair, Cynthia Tays, D.C., announced in the Texas Register that "the members of the Enforcement Committee will meet for lunch on June 12, 2010 at the Austin Sheraton Hotel prior to participating in a question and answer session with the Texas Chiropractic Association. The Committee may discuss preparations for the Q&A session during lunch. It is anticipated that the lunch will occur from approximately noon until around 2:00 p.m. The Enforcement Committee of the Texas Board of Chiropractic Examiners will participate in a Question and Answer session to be conducted as part of the annual convention of the Texas Chiropractic Association (TCA). The meeting will be held at the Sheraton Hotel located at 701 East 11th Street in Austin, Texas. It is expected that the Q&A session will begin at approximately 3:00 p.m., but the committee cannot guarantee a specific starting time for the event."

The TBCE has agreed that at the TCA convention, during the required hours established by the TBCE, that members of the board will be present to conduct a question and answer session to address any issues that the attendees might have.

These required board hours, and the question and answer session will be from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 12, 2010.  The Question and Answer session will be during the latter part of the session from approximately 3:15 or 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The executive directors of the TCA and the TBCE will read the questions that the board members will address.  This will assure anonymity for the questioners.

Questions should be of a general nature and should not address specific complaints, licensees, or current complaints.

Drug wholesaler & pharmacies License Suspended by DEA

Federal authorities have charged a major health care company and two CVS pharmacies in Florida with violating their licenses to sell powerful pain pills and other drugs.

The DEA suspended Cardinal Health's controlled substances licenses on Friday for the third time in five years. The Drug Enforcement Administration linked Cardinal Health to unusually high shipments of the controlled drugs to four pharmacies.  A federal judge temporarily halted the suspension the same day after Cardinal, a $1.3 billion company, said it would stop supplying the drugs to the four pharmacies.

The DEA alleges that Cardinal knew or should have known that the four retail pharmacies had purchased far more drugs than it needed to fulfill legitimate prescriptions.
