Hon. Bob Glaze Passes Away

The Honorable Bob Glaze of Gilmer, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010, at the age of 82.

Representative Glaze served in the Texas House of Representatives for 12 years representing Upshur County from 1991 to 2003, the 72nd through the 77th Legislative Sessions.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 28, 2010, at First Baptist Church located at 304 Buffalo Street, Gilmer, Texas 75644.

Born on Nov. 20, 1927, in Smith County to Ben A. and Erin Shelton Glaze. Bob Glaze served in the U.S. Merchant Marines and in 1948 he married Wilma Jean Franks in Tyler. Dr. Glaze received a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from Sam Houston University and a Doctor of Chiropractic from Texas Chiropractic College. He was a resident in Gilmer for 60 years, a member of First Baptist Church of Gilmer, a longtime member of Gilmer Rotary Club, past president of the Yamboree Association, past president of GISD, past president of Texas Chiropractic Association, past president Gilmer Area Chamber of Commerce, former director of First National Bank of Gilmer and former member of the Texas House of Representatives.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Glaze of Gilmer; son and daughter-in-law; Dr. Andy and Sandra Glaze of Gilmer; daughters and sons-in-law, Jeannie and Ken Smith of Gilmer, Jill and Dr. Randy McDaniel of Gilmer; brother, Ben D. Glaze of Scroggins; sisters, Sue Everett of Diana, Una Marie Green of Palestine and Freida Melvin of Jacksonville; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.


In lieu of flowers or other funeral remembrances, the family requests that you to go to someone you care for and tell them that Dr. Bob told you to do something nice for them.

Drug wholesaler & pharmacies License Suspended by DEA

Federal authorities have charged a major health care company and two CVS pharmacies in Florida with violating their licenses to sell powerful pain pills and other drugs.

The DEA suspended Cardinal Health's controlled substances licenses on Friday for the third time in five years. The Drug Enforcement Administration linked Cardinal Health to unusually high shipments of the controlled drugs to four pharmacies.  A federal judge temporarily halted the suspension the same day after Cardinal, a $1.3 billion company, said it would stop supplying the drugs to the four pharmacies.

The DEA alleges that Cardinal knew or should have known that the four retail pharmacies had purchased far more drugs than it needed to fulfill legitimate prescriptions.
