A press distribution web page recently posted HERE an article about the advantages and disadvantages of chiropractic care.

Says the posting "Chiropractic care is often associated with several risks and advantages. The bottom line is, it is proven to be effective by thousands of individuals around the world. Doctors actually recommend that alternative treatment before patients resort to bigger measures like surgery or long term medication use."

"Here are some of the known risks and benefits.
  • Chiropractic is Science-Based
  • Chiropractors are actually very qualified professionals who have undergone both undergraduate and postgraduate studies to attain their title. There are National and State Board Examinations as well, to ensure that practitioners only use the highest levels of techniques and applications that ensure patient wellness. The science of chiropractic enhances the association between the spine and nervous system, so bodily processes are improved significantly.
  • Chiropractors apply several methods that correct vertebral subluxations. The procedure becomes very safe and effective because professionals are able to locate, initiate, control and manage the different functions of cells and body systems by improving the flow of energy.
  • Chiropractic care is considered a holistic approach, but science-based."
"As a holistic type of treatment," the posting notes, "chiropractic care is generally safer than other treatments because patients do not have to undergo surgery or be placed in a sedated state to get results."

"As an alternative type of treatment, most doctors suggest that patients try these methods first before resorting to surgery or long term drug use."

"You can expect to pay less when investing in chiropractic."

"The type of treatment is also safer with very low risk for complications when employed by qualified professionals. Chiropractic applies non-surgical, natural and drug-free methods to enhance the body’s natural ability to recovery and improve. Treatment courses can be very short if the patient responds positively. You may find that chiropractics can continue maintaining optimum level of health for the long term."

The risks associated with chiropractic therapy primarily come from those who are not properly trained in the procedure. "Make sure you make a background check first on who will be rendering services by reviewing the professional license, asking for patient referrals and determining if the individual truly is registered in your state."

As with all forms of therapy the posting notes that "some patients may find the treatment painful at first, while others may not [notice] any benefit at all...."

"The possibility of injury from treatment is very low. Before any procedure is done, [a diagnosis] is almost always required [to] accurately determine the source of the problem and correct the joints effectively."
